A short drive from Ingleton village (approx. 15 minutes), you will find the stunning Ribblehead Viaduct. The viaduct has 24 arches and was built between 1870 and 1875. Take in the atmosphere of the viaduct, spanning the valley between Ingleborough and Whernside whilst you’re impressed by the Victorian workmanship. There is a visitor centre at the railway station here where you will find more information about the history, building and preservation of the viaduct, train line and station. In 2016, ITV broadcast their period drama series ‘Jericho’, a fictional programme of life in a shanty town where a viaduct was built in Victorian times and this is believed to be based on the building of Ribblehead Viaduct.
