What’s On

Events in Ingleton are wide and varied with something to interest you throughout the year.

These include 1940’s Weekend, Overground Underground Festival, Ingleton Gala & Mountain Race and Sheafstock. Ingleton also hosts its very own cycle sportive, Escape to the Dales.

From family friendly to the more specialised, you’re bound to find something to take part in and enjoy.

Organic willow is included in the price and all the tools required will be provided. Phil will guide the group through all the processes to make sure that everyone masters the traditional skills needed to craft their own piece of sculpture to take home at the end of the day.

Overground Underground Event – Abseiling at Storrs Common with Olly Roberts @ Meet in Ingleton village

Come and challenge yourself and have fun abseiling at Storrs Common on the outskirts of Ingleton. You do not need any previous experience as the skilful Olly Roberts will be there to guide and help you.

Dates: Tuesday 22nd May, Monday 4th June or Thursday 19th July 2018
Times: 2 hours, 6.30pm-8.30pm
Where: Meet outside the Co-op, Main St, Ingleton, Carnforth, LA6 3EH
Age: Adults and children (5-18).
Children must be accompanied by an adult, adult can just spectate.

Ingleton Save A Life Defibrillator Awareness @ Ingleborough Community Centre

The installation of the defibrillators around the village is part of the Ingleton Save A Life project. The aim of this project is ‘To have an effective community of people in Ingleton who are able to resuscitate in a cardiac arrest situation’. There are training and awareness sessions every month at the Community Centre for those who would like to know what to do in this situation. The training sessions are to teach you as an individual what to do if you come across someone in cardiac arrest. They are not to form a group of first responders. Overground Underground Festival Event – On Track Day – Being Safe on the Hills with Yorkshire Dales Guides @ YDG Barn, Stainforth

Designed and run by YDG instructors who have more than 40 years’ experience in mountain rescue, these days are aimed at adult walkers and are about keeping safe and more importantly what to do if your day goes wrong or you come across someone else who needs help.
Where: Meet up at the YDG Barn at Stainforth and then walking in the area. Directions given when place(s) booked.
Cost: Normally £65 per person or £120 for two but only £60 or £110 for two if quote OGUGYDG

12pm – Judging of the fancy dress at the Primary School.
12.15 – Parade leaves lead by the Kookaburra Samba Band.
1pm – Arrive on the field.
1:10 – Crowning of the Gala Queen.
1:30 – Prize giving for the fancy dress.
1:45 – Children’s sports.
2:00 – Helen Howard’s dancers.
2:15 – Sports.
3:00 – Senior’s Mountain Race.

Overground Underground Event – Ingleborough Mountain Race @ From Ingleton Sports Field
Jul 21 @ 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm

The race starts on the sports field next to Ingleborough Community centre (Grid Ref. 695730), passes through the main street of the village, turns left on to the Hawes road, after four hundred meters turn right off the road on to the public footpath up Ingleborough. The race then follows this path to the summit (grid ref. 742745) and returns to the village by the same route. The field is re-entered from the Back gate car park. As this route is along a public footpath any competitor may go around the course prior to the race. The relevant Ordnance survey maps are:
1. Wensleydale and Wharfdale,
Sheet 98, 1:50,000
2. Yorkshire Dales Western Area,
Outdoor Leisure Map 2, 1:25,000
3. Ingleborough Hill, Sheet SD77,
1:25,000. Note Ingleton is 1/2 mile
off this map.
Date: Saturday 21st July 2018
Time: The senior race will start at 3:00pm and the junior race at 3:15pm
Where: The race starts on the sports field next to Ingleborough Community Centre, Main St, Ingleton, LA6 3HG (Grid Ref. 695730)
Cost: £4.00 entry fee on the day
Age: All with a suitable fitness level
Access: Unsuitable for wheelchairs and buggies
Booking: Just turn up. All entries will be taken on the day of the race up to 2:30pm, the race is run as part of Ingleton’s Gala Day with events for all the family.
