Scouting is great fun and very rewarding for both youngsters and adults alike! In Ingleton, a huge team of trained and enthusiastic Leaders, aided by many supporters, engage and support over 100 young people in their personal development and enable them to enjoy new adventures, experience the outdoors and interact with the community.
Ingleton Scout Group has a thriving Beaver Colony for girls and boys aged 6 – 8 years, an active Cub Pack for youngsters aged 8 – 10 ½ years and a lively Scout Troop for teenagers aged 10 ½ – 14 years. A successful District Explorer Unit for older teenagers aged 14 – 18 years also meets fortnightly and a District Network Unit operates for 18 – 25 year olds. There are also opportunities for DofE placements and for other teenagers wanting to work as Young Leaders.
As well as weekly meetings, which take place in Mealbank Hall, a purpose built youth centre in Mealbank Quarry, a range of exciting activities are also organised around the village and further afield.
Contact the Group Manager, Carl Unsworth, (Tel: 015242 41616; Email: gslcarlunsworth@gmail.com) for more information, or if you wish to add your child’s name to the waiting list.
As an adult, you don’t have to be an adventurer like Bear Grylls to get involved with Scouting. Do you have first aid knowledge? Are you good with numbers or IT? Handy in the kitchen? Or are you a DIY whizz? Everyone has useful skills and can volunteer to help in many ways, not just simply as a youth leader. If you would like to join the fun, please contact the District Manger by emailing
dc.ingleborough@nys.org.uk or by ringing 0845 4960286.
