As the nights draw in earlier, from October to March, the Ingleton Stargazer group meets monthly at Broadrake on the 3rd Monday of the month, depending on the moon phases. There is a short talk with Pete Collins, (local star photographer) which includes what to look out for through the next month, usually with a video and if its clear, getting outside & looking upwards to check out the starry sky.
Broadrake is in a great dark sky area being away from the lights of Ingleton and the glow of far away cities and we can easily see the Milky Way – sometimes it’s so dark that it is a challenge to see the more familiar stars because of all the other stars that are visible.
Wrap up warm! If you have them, bring binoculars, telescopes and cameras if you wish to have a go at night-time photography.
