Organic Willow is used & provided, as are all the tools required. The tutor is Phil Bradley who lives in NW Cumbria near Cockermouth where he grows a total of 37 different varieties of sustainable willow on several local sites. This is harvested once the leaves have dropped in early winter and the rods are then sorted and bundled together for storage in an unheated shed, ready for use in the following year.

The willow is used mainly for basket-making, but also for garden structures and sculptures as well as decorative animals, which is a popular one-day workshop topic. He has also created some amazing large-scale structures and sculptures at RHS Harlow Carr where he has been working for the past 15 years.
