We’ve lots going on in the Ingleton area with something to interest you throughout the year. Main annual events include

 1940’s Weekend, Overground Underground Festival, Ingleton Gala & Mountain Race and Sheafstock. Ingleton also hosts its very own cycle sportive, Escape to the Dales.

We’ll meet up in the centre of Ingleton (unless otherwise informed), stock up on breakfast, brews and equipment before we head out for the morning.

09:15-12:30

You will gain an insight into the techniques required to understanding maps, covering Scales, Rights of Way, Grid References.  Understand how to developing a navigation strategy – Distance, Direction, Check Off and Overshoot.  How to measure distances using, Timing and Pacing.  How to use a compass – Map orientation, taking and walking a bearing.  Understand the basics of following a bearing in poor visibility.  Start to get to grips with contour recognition – Understanding the shape of the land.  Basic routefinding skills and route planning – Using natural features, hazard avoidance.

12:30-13:00 – 

Back to base, for a cuppa, chat, review and relax.
