The Peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside are located just outside Ingleton. The route to hike all 3 in one go is circular, so you can in theory start at any point just off the route. Why not make Ingleton your base? Starting from Ingleton makes the route slightly longer (29.6 miles) and higher than if you start/end at Horton in Ribblesdale, so if you think that you’ve already ‘done the challenge’, why not take on the Ingleton circuit as your next challenge? If you are preparing for another challenge event, you can hike up Ingleborough or Whernside directly from Ingleton (the start or end section of the route) and we have other walks to help with your training too, such as Ingleton Waterfalls Trail and The Westhouse Walks.
Other useful info if you’re coming to explore the Yorkshire 3 Peaks area –
Ingleton has a wide selection of places to stay over, so you could start your hike ‘from the door’, many listed on this website.
We have places to dine out when you return – think about booking ahead if you’re coming at weekend as our unique places get booked up. See our ‘Eat and Drink’ page.
If not everyone in your group is doing ‘the 3 peaks’ there are plenty of other activities, shops and walks that they can enjoy whilst you’re out.
For more information about The Ingleton 3 Peaks, see the website http://www.yorkshirepeakschallenge.co.uk an initiative of the area’s Overground Underground Festival & supported by Ingleton Area Business Group to raise awareness of the benefits of using Ingleton as a base.
