Place Category: Things to Do
A short drive from Ingleton, you will find Ingleborough Cave,
First entered and made accessible in 1837, is the premier show cave in the Yorkshire Dales. In 2012, it celebrated 175 years of entrancing visitors with an awe inspiring range of stunning cave formations, the imposing cave entrance and the large passages are full of artefacts dating back millions of years along with the evidence of the significant impact of the Ice Ages.
Dogs welcome on a lead.
The cave is fully accessible so why not book our all terrain powered wheelchair (a.k.a tramper) which is available to navigate the trail and we have a manual wheelchair on site here at Ingleborough Cave for those wishing to go inside the ONLY wheelchair accessible showcave in the U.K (although you’ll need a suitable “pusher”). Just call in advance to plan and pre-book your visit.
It has been featured many times on television. The tours of the Cave leave from the entrance at regular intervals with an expert guide to help interpret the many features of the Cave. In addition to the tours of the showcase, we have a calendar of bookable events over summer (such as photography and adventure caving) full details on our website. Father Christmas also comes to the cave each December, so bring the whole family for a magical experience – no need to book, just see our website for dates and times.
