What’s On

Events in Ingleton are wide and varied with something to interest you throughout the year.

These include 1940’s Weekend, Overground Underground Festival, Ingleton Gala & Mountain Race, Sheafstock, and Folk Weekend.  Ingleton also hosts its very own cycle sportive, Escape to the Dales.

From family friendly to the more specialised, you’re bound to find something new to take part in.

Overground Underground Event – Moving Landscapes Daytime Workshops (Music, Movement and Dance in the Landscape, with Quarry Arts) @ Meet at The i-Centre
Jun 1 @ 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Participants will make up music using rock instruments and create movement sequences which will be developed into a dance about quarrying and the quarried landscape.
Weather permitting the participants will start in the Hall at the icentre and walk to Storrs Common for the rest of the day. If the weather is bad we will stay in the icentre.
No music or dance experience is necessary, just a willingness to be experimental and creative in music and movement.
Dates: Thursday 1st June and Thursday 24th August 2017

Overground Underground Festival Event – On Track Day – Being Safe on the Hills with Yorkshire Dales Guides @ YDG Barn, Stainforth

Designed and run by YDG instructors who have more than 40 years’ experience in mountain rescue, these days are aimed at adult walkers and are about keeping safe and more importantly what to do if your day goes wrong or you come across someone else who needs help.
Dates: Monday 22nd May, Saturday 10th June, Saturday 15th July, Saturday 5th August 2017 Time: 9.30am – approx. 3.30pm Where: Meet up at the YDG Barn at Stainforth and then walking in the area. Directions given when place(s) booked.
Cost: Normally £65 per person or £120 for two but only £60 or £110 for two if quote OGUGYDG

Overground Underground Event – Develop Your Compass Skills with Yorkshire Dales Guides @ Advised when you book

Understand how to use a map and the basics of navigation but never really used a compass before? This day is for people who want to learn the basics of using a compass to orientate the map, to take and follow bearings from the map and from the ground.

Overground Underground Event – Erratic Boulders of Norber and the Secret Dale @ Meet at YDNP Car Park, Clapham

A walk to the Norber Erratics – huge boulders carried here by an Ice Age glacier. We will visit Nappa Scar to see evidence of an ancient sea. Hear about the Craven Faults and their effect on the landscape, and glimpse into beautiful but little known Crummackdale.

Special instructions: 51⁄2 miles (9km) from Clapham along Thwaite Lane and on to Norber Brow. Then to Nappa Scar and Crummack

Lane to rejoin Thwaite Lane and return to Clapham. There is one steep climb on to Norber Brow and a moderately exposed section at Nappa Scar. Some stiles on

the route. Mostly good conditions underfoot with some short uneven sections. Sorry, no dogs.

Overground Underground Event – Settle’s Hinterland @ Meet at Settle Tourist Info Centre

Settle’s Hinterland –
A Waterfall, Caves, Erratics, and a Nature Reserve

A 61⁄2 mile (91⁄2 km) walk exploring the high ground above Settle and Langcliffe. Hear about Langcliffe’s violent past. Visit Catrigg Force and Samson’s Toe and learn about the forces which have shaped the landscape. The walk includes Winskill Stones Nature Reserve and Victoria Cave.

Dates: Sunday 9th July 2017 Time: 11.00am – 4.00pm Where: Meet at Settle Tourist Information Centre, Town Hall, Settle, BD24 9EJ

Cost: £5 per adult. Free for age 16 and under

Overground Underground Event – An industrial gem – The Hoffman Kiln @ Meet at Knight Stainforth Campsite
Jul 15 @ 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm

A walk alongside the Ribble with its relics of its industrial past. We will visit Langcliffe, a quiet village with a violent past. We will conclude the walk with a visit to the site of the Craven Limeworks with its Hoffmann Kiln where quicklime was produced on an industrial scale.

Dates: Sunday 15th July 2017 and Saturday 12th August 2017

Where: Meet at Knight Stainforth Caravan and Camping Site, Little Stainforth, Settle, BD24 0DP. Cost: £5 per adult, under 16s free Age: All ages

Special instructions: A relatively at 41⁄2 mile (7km) walk from Little Stainforth, along riverside paths to Langcliffe Mill, Langcliffe Village and the Craven Limeworks.
